So I aquired a brand spanking new Elite hunter today (it actually belongs to Thetackdriver who received it yesterday) to set up and build some arrows(review coming later on Darkhorse Stud 340 and 400 spine models)
Ok fit and finish ... Tacky got the Black riser with AP max1 camo limbs ... Sexy as hell (not as sexy as my snow camo limbs tho) talk about High defination. a true work of art typical of Elite archery. Balanced very well in my hand bare .... wanted to tip back a bit at rest but a short stab cured that and it sat there like a well trained bird dog.
I set the bow up get the center shot close as I have yet to install the peep ... will do that with Tacky around (it is his bow afterall..althogh he may have to pry it from my cold dead fingers) set up the sight but needs to be tweaked with Tacky ... and set the rest and nock point/loop up.
Once all that was done I went outside with a couple of arrows I had lying around (I have yet to build the Studs) and launched them about 25 times each into a target butt .... after about 40 shots to settle the string and make sure that Tacky wouldnt get a bloody lip from the loop letting go ... I backed up to about 20 yards and seen how well it grouped without a peep... (when I transfer pic from my phone I will post up) Needless to say it was shooting a little left but consistantly since I replaced nocks twice and slapped an arrow 3 more times ... Aiming for same spot and hitting the same holes the last 10 shots ... I think it groups like a MOFO :twisted:
At 7 1/2" brace height its easy to shoot and the draw cycle is smooth as silk ... its a bit more agressive as my Elite Pure in the ramp up but still super easy to draw .... I think its smoother to draw than My Diamond Black Ice personally (thats saying alot as that is the smoothest single cam bow I have ever shot)
As for speed because I know you are all gonna ask about it.. I didnt chrony it as it was dusk out at about 930 ish i think it was .....but at 20 yards shooting a 400 grain arrow at 70 pounds with a 29" draw I suspect I am getting around the 305 mark possibly more (if its sunny tomarrow I will chrony it with a 400 grain arrow).
at just 31 3/4" axel to axel the Elite Hunter is at home in a tree or stalking through tight scrub ... I personally would have no problem putting in on the 3D target line either.
I think I found a new Hunting Bow.... How the hell am I gonna sneak that one past the wife???? meh I just wont give Tackys back to him
I played an evil trick on "Thetackdriver" I texted him when I was outside shooting at 20 yards that his new Elite Hunter grouped like a POS:mrgreen::twisted: ... and I should buy it off of him since I convinced him to seriously look at the Elite line .... he was all worried and and feeling bad till he got the picture message I sent him ... I thought he was gonna come through the phone ;) and strangle me ...LMF.AO
Tomarrow ..... we build arrows
