So I went hunting up skagit yesterday. In case anyone was wondering, all black bears in the lower mainland have gone extinct. After going out every weekend I've decided they have all died off or moved south. But did see a few goats. Cool to see some goats so close to the valley.

skagit is steep valley! frist time out there two weeks ago, i would figure the bears stick to the valley bottom, and looks really thick around the river. i'll be surprised if anyone can pull a good boar out of there,

good luck guys

The problem isn't the lack of bears, but the fact you went to the skagit on a weekend. Road hunter Deluxe out there, and by sunday they are all far away from the road...

Try mid week. They come out and play a little easier.

Good to see you saw the goats, did you see the moose or elk at all?

Lots of old logging slashes that have healthy bear populations in the Skagit Valley. Here are a couple pics from a climbing adventure last year. The population of Goats seems to be very healthy up there too.

Also saw my first goat ever two weeks ago in the Skagit, about mid point between Ross and Silver lakes. No bear sign though, and no deer.

I've casted off shore at Silver. There are fish in the lake I have seen them caught. Just curious what the snow level is in the Skagit now?

Just got back from the skagit and the bears are out if you look in the right places. My ol lady took a chocolate boar today for her first bear ever.

The fishing in silver lake is good, the fish we caught were all quite small. Catch and release only if I remember and fly only in the creek.
