Phone the CO's, if its loose they may want it destroyed as they dont want them spreading in case there is another one out there.

Forget hunting them in November in Pink Mountain when you might be able to hunt them in May in Merritt:)

Could it be a pregnant cow moose? The photo looks distorted due to the angle of the animal. Just a guess.

no way that is anything but a bison...or some weird half and half as stated above anyway. there are a few bison farms, but I thought they were all around 100 mile house area not so much around kamloops. Keep us updated as to if you see him again.

It has to be a bison, the hinds are too short for a moose, and the withers are too hairy, but I sure wish its head would have made it in the pic. I'll have to ask the COs what they think.

Must be an escape from someones farm. They are suposed to be very difficult to keep inside regular range fence.

Where is the rest of the herd?

I thought they had a bison farm in McClure near Barriere - at least a number of years ago anyways.

I would have said its escape from the top of the Deadman farm but you said south of the Loops

One of the ranches between Logan Lake and Kamloops had a couple.

bison is a favorite for the cutting horse trainers. Where was this?. there are several small bison herds around the loops.

The CO said that it was most likely one from a reserve nearby since they've gotten loose a couple times in the last few years. He also said there is a farm that's fairly close that has some bison too, but the rancher usually keeps pretty good tabs on them. He didn't recommend trying to hunt it, something to do with there not being an open season down here.

I would ask the bosses in Kamloops. As its obviously a escaped animal (domestic) as there are no wild herds for 1000+km, I would think the hunting regs dont apply. It may fall under something to do with agriculture.

Its possible under the range act that it would be treated just like somebody's cow . So shooting it might not be a good idea . Having said that, the condition of the licenses for bison is that they are confined behind 8 foot fences so situations like this don't arise. Ranchers have had their licenses taken away for inadequate fencing.
