snow pack and road report region 7-39

Hey,
Anybody drawn for grizzly in 7-39 should be aware that as of yesterday morning there was still up to 3' of snow on the ground at 4000' elevation. Very slow melt so far this year. temps up there are going to -8 to -12 at night and only up to +9 (max) during the day
Road maintenance from about 80 km out of Mackenzie to as far as Kemess Mine has ceased (except for emergency repairs) as of Mar 31. The mine is closing and is not investing upwards of $5 million/year in road maintenance any more.
Be advised that if you head up that way this spring or fall to hunt.................the road's going to be ROUGH!

Thanks for the info. I am headin in the first week of june. I heard that a fellow at the mine has seen grizz out though.

Will be heading over about May 22. Myself and two others have grizz LEH. E-mail today from Black Lake indicates there is still two feet of snow. Good luck to fellow grixx hunters.

I work at the mine and nobody has seen any griz or black bears yet (as of Wednesday morning).
I'm one of the guys that sightings are supposed to be reported to.

none of the truck drivers that are still hauling to and from the mine have seen any grizzlies on the way up from Mackenzie. I don't know if the road up through Germansen is even open right now.

I heard the guys name was "Gary" that said he saw bears. I dont need a bear sighting to go huntin though. We definately have lots of snow to melt yet.

Thanks for update.Very valuable.Seems every year is different.Went there in 2009 ,mid -MAY .Lot of snow.Got grizz. 2010 was no snow same time same location. Seen bears did not connect.
