I fished Jacko today, lots of ice when I got there this am but it was going fast... I would say it should all be gone by tomorrow.
fishing was VERY slow, no fish to hand for me and no fish moving or showing themselves.

Stump has been open for a while .. heard fishing was slow still.. should be good if we get a break from this horrible wind..

A friend of mine dropped by on Sunday, he said him and a few friends went to Red Lake last week ice fishing for Eastern Brook Trout, they caught some real nice ones! But, the one guy that fell through the ice didn't have a fun day! I guess they were using a plank of sorts to get them over the thin shore ice, but this guy must have made a wrong move, and down he went, right up to his arm pit's! Twice!! He took off his wet clothes and my buddy lent him his snow mobile suit, cold but OK! Red Lakes pretty high up, so I'd be real leery to go out on any lake this time of year, planks or no planks!!!

Shed, where did you hear that, a blog post from some guy that didn't catch fish after an hour on the ice. Too many people posting theories of winter kill this year. My oldtimer pal (local guy) limited out on brooks 2 weekends ago in the north side, one was 4lbs.

Every lake has winterkill of some sort, a large fish in low oxygen comes end of life, then guys post WInter kill. Red has lost fish over winters every year since I have owned, and every year it also produces beautiful fish.

That ice is not safe at all, last year I fished april 19, regardless of what you have on stay off the ice or you will be swimming

I also heard red had a bad winter kill, along with several others. Good to hear that info was wrong
