Elk Still Packing Head Gear

I have seen 3 different bull elk over the past couple of days that were still packing both antlers. We are almost into May, seems a little later than usual, doesn't it?

NO,,not late at all for the EK,,saw lots of good bulls in the last week, saw lots with just bumps to though, right on schedule as always

I Just learned something new. I thought they lost them in Feb/March.

Spend lots of time at Cowichan for most of my life and have seen big bulls packing both antlers on Easter weekend on multiple occasions. That said I have also seen them without. On one occasion saw two large bulls (similar body size) side by side, one with both antlers (6x6) and the other had lost both.

I have been watching 6 elk 3 of them still have both sides gonna head up into there kitchen in the next week or 2 to look for there sheds or as soon as I see they have dropped them

Was in Okanagan on sat, managed to get out for a look around. Friday night we saw 64 deer not one with antlers, 7 elk one spike and one 4x5.

Crazy supposed to be an indication of good range...carrying antlers past mid winter....have seen deer with full antlers 3rd week of March few years ago...very mild winter...
