Got a chance to purchase a brand new in box goldring spotter for 879 but am concerned that I should be spending the extra money on the hd version is it worth it for the xtra 300 just want some input

I've had both and prefer the HD for glassing above 30x. The side by side test of each scope was done at long distances at up to 40x and (to my eye) the HD was significantly crisper at the higher powers. I've used the non-HD scope for 8 years and the HD version four years. I realize this is a sample of one scope each and everyone's eyes are different.

HD is more important for photography than glassing.

I've got the preHD model. Save yourself the money and pick it up. It is a great scope. And for that price you can't loose.

Then you need a better TV.

With optics does HD stand for high dispersion glass? Or does it actually stand for high definition. Maybe it differs brand by brand?

right in leupolds website it calls it high definition calcium flouride glass just out using it at 8 05 and just as clear as my swaros 10 42 binos then dialed up the power for even a better picture so overall quite happy with my purchase
