With the Bear season upon us. I got to thinking about the hide I have in the freezer from last year.
Is there a tannery in Vancouver that I can mail the hide to. I will probably take the head off and put it in the garden and clean it up later. But, the hide I am hoping to hang on the wall in my office/gun room. I thought about trying it myself but figure if I can afford to send it away, why not.
Any idea what it might cost for a tanned hide with no head or paws????

Thanks for any help.

Just skin out the head for practice, you can't screw up too bad if it's just a wallhanger anyways! Then refreeze and send to Pacific Leather or Advance tannery in Vernon!
Leave the head on and the feet, they will skin them out for you, tan the hide and send it back on the bus!

Thank you very much,
I will give them a shout tomorrow and see what the cost is.

Spoke with Pacific Leather this morning. Nice people to talk to.
For my small bear, with no head or paws it would cost me about $250 with a 5 month wait. I may wait until I have a bigger bear. This little guy will probably be my practice bear.
Cheers,

Thanks for the help

Good choice not to try to tan it yourself, unless you are a glutton for punishment.

If you're going to do something with the hide, I'd get on it, as ears, toes and lips will freezer burn.
