Mine should be done before too long now. I don't mind waiting for quality.

quality work from a reputable taxidermist(= busy) should be 1 year or 14 months max..imo..now African mounts will obviously take a lot longer HOWEVER Kody94 has far more patience than me...

I only have "patients "...lol...ooooops

The only thing that I'm 'waiting' on is my wife's ram.....but it will be quite a while I'm guessing. Most likely sometime over next winter if all goes well!

I have a caribou and a bear rug waiting for me! Just gotta find the time to drive down and pick it up. Then drop off my son's Mulie rack:mrgreen:

SSS Hopefully I will be priviledged this year knowing that a ram comes home sooner than a deer:mrgreen:

what could possibly take 5 years to do a bear rug??....never heard of anyone that had his wildlife trophy gone for 5 years and got it back...

just seems strange and excessive...not something I would be willing to pay for...had plenty of bears done over the years..lots of em and they all turned out exellent..and all were back w/i 14 months tops...

cheers

Just got my trophies (Kudu pedastal mount, two Euro mounts and a tanned Gemsbok flatskin) back last Thursday from my 2010 Namibian hunt after only 11 months. They were actually ready to go 3 months sooner but I was out of the country and not able to clear and receive the shipment. Kody94 you do have a lot of patience- hope you can enjoy them soon.

I can't comment on C.Lou's bear but in my case, I know it's the tannery that's dropped the ball. Your musings seem pretty final and I'm just wanting to clarify; some things that involve a mount, are completely out of the hands of the taxidermist - There are exceptions.

When I am waiting for something to come back from the taxidermy I think on how I am going to better the one that is in at the taxidermy shop this way the wait does not seam to be as hard on me..

hmmm I honestly never heard of anyones big game trophy taking 5 years....thats for certain..and the ones that have been gone that long usually are GONE..as in closed taxidermist...failed buisness..etc..

yes shit does happen..but there is NO EXCUSE for 5 years...the taidermist should have been phoning after 6 months..where the #$#%^5^ is the hide??? I can not fathom what took years at a tannery??...so once in a long while shit happens...however 99.99 % of big game trophies should be done in 14 months (from north america..) AND IF the tannery did %$$^& up..I can understand being happy its found however by no means is it acceptable buisness practice..nor credible work... and nothing to be happy about REGARDLESS of the price..

yup pretty harsh...for a pretty harsh scenario..

cheers

It may not be everyones experience but I have noticed the heads I have not paid for in full seem to be returned alot sooner. It may be coincidence but the two I paid for up front both took for ever this was from different shops as well. The guys I deal with now are very good and our stuff is returned with in the year and is great quality work.
