So where is everyone going to go look for their birds? General areas of course, you don't have to say exact location unless you want to PM me.

Anyone coming from out of town to the kootney area?

I can point you in a few directions in the Trail / Castlegar area, and sounds like Palmer can help out in the Christina lake / Grandforks area.

I did locate the roost last time I was out.
Lots of droppings and tracks below the tree.
Im up for a bit more of a challenge.
I will be using my cross bow.
Dad gets the 12 gauge.
12 Hours from now I hope to have 2 birds in the back of the truck and Dad & I on our way home.
The weather will dictate alot for tomorrow.
A chance of SNOW ! Yuck !!!!
Good luck THUNDER CHICKENS.

Woooo Hoooo !

We rule, the other teams drool.

Great bird BCbrez.
Looks like you have the hot spot this year.

As for me, well things did not go as planed.
I woke up to snow at my place in Kelowna.
Sadly for me the storm hit my hunny hole so there was a little fresh snow but cold.
This kept the turkeys quiet.
We did hear 2 different toms while gearing up at the truck and no one was in before us.
We set up and I slowed my calling down and less frequent.
Did not matter.
I did call in some hens but they were behind me 3 different times.
The person who had permission to hunt the privet land next to us shot 3 times so I hope he missed.
Just before we left I did hear 2 other toms and one was a boss gobbler.
You know by his call.
We did find out a group of hunters (4 trucks) was up the road.
I knew something was a little off.
I think they may have been trying to crow call or hen call the day before.
That may have made the difference in us not doing so well.
Well there is always Sat/Sun or maybe Trail/Castlegar ?
Keep it going THUNDER CHICKENS.

PS I have a update if any team member is going to Rock Creek, just PM me.

Good Day All......anyone not using the complete wings of their birds. I am an avid fly tyer ( and first year turkey hunter ) I would be willing to swap complete wings for trout flies. I am using the primary feathers for archery fletching and the other feathers for my fly tying. If you are interested in doing a trade please keep me in mind.

Good luck and straight shootin

I was out again today with Dad.
Very cool out in the hills but the snow is starting to melt in my area.
Speaking of "my area".
The secret is out.
There has been more people in 2 days than all of last year, and they are screwing things up for me.
7 Trucks & SUVs in and out before 8:30.
I never heard anyone call or slam a door shut, they are just burning up the road.
I think this could be part of the reason (weather also) I am not seeing/hearing turkeys.
Just 2 hens and zero gobbles.
Im out tomorrow, so maybe the warm weather may get them going.
If not Im off to hunt with bcBrez, somebody please tell him Im coming to hunt with him.

PS Coach...would you be interested in a afternoon hunt ?

Rick, I can't go for a few more days - family and work commitments - but I'll be ready to go soon. If we can't find them locally then we should think about making an overnight trip to Trail. I may have a connection down that way..

Dad & I got out Friday. Zero gobbles and only 2 hens spotted.
It was cold & clear.
I think when the weather warms up the calling "here" will pick up.

Hi guys/gals,

I am looking at doing my very first turkey hunt this fall and have not he slightist idea of what to do or where to go. I have been hunting for 15 yrs now and i've never had the chance to do a turkey hunt. I have a big aniversary coming up with lots of guests on Oct 15 2011 who I would like to share a wild turkey with. It would be tremendously appreciated if I could get some guidance on where to go and some tips to help me get my 1st turkey. I only need to take one turkey and I may never get another. Again this would be so much appreciated if I can get this turkey this year. Thanks everyone for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. I hope im not asking to much of anyone.
