Ok on this is the page I will keep track of the team scores for the turkey contest. You can post your pictures along with the score of your birds here but please keep it to short comments only for the ease of finding the posts with scores. If you want to post longer comments do it on the team threads.

We are using the NWTF scoring method, you can find it on the NWTF website or use the link here - http://www.nwtf.org/all_about_turkeys/turkey_score.html (http://www.nwtf.org/all_about_turkeys/turkey_score.html)

Just thought I might add this here too. According to official NWTF trophy rules if any of you kill a turkey with more than one beard, as Braggadoe did, each beard is measured separate and then added together.

Example: One beard is 8 inches long and the second is 4 1/2 inches long = 12 1/2 inches total length.

Biggest Bird- a full mount bird, just cover material costs!- Donated by Similkameen wildlife studio's (SHAKER).

ShallowH2O with a score of 52.125 has the biggest bird taken with a bow.
Best bird with archery equipment- A PSE archery hat.- Donated by P&R Archery

I'm not sure how to award this prize, so I've decided to put it to a vote. You can't vote for your self. So who do you think should get this great prize? Or I could just pull a random name from the list of people who got birds.
A hand crafted turkey slate/glass call. The body of the call is made from rosewood. It features a unique sound camber that gives the call the perfect sound. One side of the call is real slate and the other side features a custom made glass surface. The sales price of the call has been estimated at $250. This is the only call of its kind in existence. Also a custom built hardwood striker in that is perfectly matched for the call.- Donated by Huntwriter

Congrats to everyone who got a bird and a prize. Special thanks to those who donated their time and prizes.
Hope we can do it again next year.
Thanks, BCBrez.

I know, maybe I should win it out of PITY.....I made 2 trips turkey hunting, and while I had lots of fun with them, passed on birds from the truck, I simply couldnt call in a mature tom into range.....
I think my call is worn out and I need a new one!

I think just a draw from the people who got birds

I think everyone who entered the Contest and actually got out and hunted should be in the draw, not just those of us who got birds.

A very big THANK YOU to SHAKER. I just got off the phone with him. Since I was a complete fool and didn't cape my bird out he is giving me a certificate so I can bring the next one I get in to get done. Hopefully I don't get skunked next year!

It says in the rules on the first page of the turkey contest thread that you can only be entered for a prize if you get a bird.

Still need mailing addresses from the prize winners.

Yeah, too bad it's in the rules. I like the idea of anyone who got out and hunted to qualify, but how you going to know?
Probably the hunter who got out and didn't get a bird is the one who needs the call the most.

Yeah Nick was pretty happy about it. FYI guys you can freeze your turkey with guts in and still have a very edible bird. I've done this many times and skin my birds when they just start to loose'n up, really cold on the fingers doing it this way though. While your birds hang'n you can carv the meat off and you have good table fare and a bird you can look at forever.

Hi guys/gals,

I am looking at doing my very first turkey hunt this fall and have not he slightist idea of what to do or where to go. I have been hunting for 15 yrs now and i've never had the chance to do a turkey hunt. I have a big aniversary coming up with lots of guests on Oct 15 2011 who I would like to share a wild turkey with. It would be tremendously appreciated if I could get some guidance on where to go and some tips to help me get my 1st turkey. I only need to take one turkey and I may never get another. Again this would be so much appreciated if I can get this turkey this year. Thanks everyone for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. I hope im not asking to much of anyone.

I actually live just south of Calgary and it takes 8 to 10 years on average to get a turkey tag here. Its all draw process and im 3 yr so still lots of time to wait and not so much time before our aniversary. Thanks for your help.
