Just wondering a ball park of what people are finding for a fly in rate per km/mi out of dease for a plane capable of taking 4 people.

I recently heard its close to $8 a mile. Not sure if anyone flys an Otter out of Dease but I am pretty sure a beaver only holds 4 and that includes the pilot. Also how much gear are you looking at taking. With 4 guys I think you would have to take two seperate flights.

Also you have to remember if the lake is 100 miles away, thats $800 dollares to drop you off, $800 for the plane to come back, $800 for the plane to go and pick you up and another $800 to fly you out.

Ive been looking into this quite heavily, mainly outta fort nelson and atlin though. I am finding some companies are charging more to take you to a certain spot, even though the distance is shorter than some of the other destinations. This is buggin me a bit, air charters should operate on a distance basis exclusively with other factors of difficulty taken in of course, not simply charging more for choice destinations. That being said outta fort nelson its looking like its about $1500 to go 100-140km for a plane that will hold 5, and carry 1100lbs.

Also, keep in mind the ferrying costs of any animals shot. The plane may take 4 guys with light back packs, but you shoot a couple moose or elk and now your costs can really skyrocket! Also, keep in mind you will probably need a sat phone to tell the pilot when is okay to come.

I can't say exactly what the rate out of Dease Lake is but it is 8.00 per mile out of tatogga lake. The milege is based on a return trip. If you are going to a destination 100 miles away, you will pay for the 100 miles each way, so 200 miles each trip. So its 1600.00 to take you in and 1600.00 to bring you out plus taxes and park fees if applicable. The 8.00 is per mile flown, not per mile to destination. Most charter aircraft in the area are Dehavilland Beavers. They can take 4 passengers plus the pilot, and some gear. Total load not including pilot is usually 1000 to 1100 lbs depending on lake size and distance out. PM me if you want more details. I have a beaver in the area from June to October.

We used to fly west out of Ft Nelson into the mtns back in the late 60ies, all the 70ies and very early 80ies for $106.00 a trip for a Cessna 185 on floats. 2 trips in and out. No seats on way out you just sat on meat. Them were the days. Now I haven't got a clue on cost or equipment available.
