View Full Version : **Stone Sheep Only** Picture Thread
Well I must admit I have a problem.......... Stone Sheep.
While I have only been on 1 sheep hunt, they are all I can think about. I spend countless hours researching.....Talking with other members, looking through old threads, creeping outfitter pictures posted on their websites, google earth, bing maps, topo canada and looking at the sheep pictures on here.
Often you must spend 20 minutes sifting through comments, questions, just to see pictures. Nothing against story threads, I love em but sometimes you just want drool over photos. And then on the sheep picture threads there mixed in with dalls and bighorns, nothing against these sheep either, there all awesome but not what I'm after yet. :-D
Anyways so while watching the hockey game, I've gone through a whole bunch of threads and grabbed most of the stone sheep pictures I could find. I know theres a whole bunch more so feel free to contribute. If for some reason you don't want your picture here let me know which post # its in and which photo and I will remove it.
For your viewing pleasure!!!!!!!!
Cheers Kyle.

Funny you say that but the last few months thats all I can think about also is a fly in Stone Sheep hunt,I love hunting mule deer in the alpine more than anything but thats even taken a back seat much to the dismay of older brother and most trusted hunting partner,
I've even been researching ultralight backpacking gear and the first words out of my brothers mouth was "your not getting old on me are you"
I'm hooked ! Thanks for posting those awesome pictures.

Anything you want bad enough in life you can achieve. Think of this everyday, Train harder than anyone eles, talk to more and more people about them, and when you're on the hunt, hunt father and harder than anyone eles. Dedicate your hunt to glass 3 times the amount of hours that you glassed last year. Then when you find your ram, have the patients of Job.
How many days are you dedicating to stones this year?

Great thread Kyle......it's this passion that'll get you a ram. Patience and persistence, and a love of being in those hills that will bring success! Don't give up! You're young and got lotsa years ahead of you. Took me a few, and look what happened!
Now off for bighorns and Dalls.....but that Stone sheep country, wow! Can't get enough of it!

Got 10 days in August booked for a trip, me and the dog. Heading into a new area & have been pouring over maps and google earth. Got a rough route picked out through some good ram country to check out. Will be a good trip, looking forward to it as always.

Cool pic. Had a good number of rams like that in one outfitters area I guided in.
ya, one horn only 7 or 8 inches long and the other side looks like someone melted year 3 and pushed it back into year 4 or 5. lol if that makes any sense.

we used to see a couple of them every year back in 93,94,95. Some had both horns like that. Even had a few that came out weird and came out heavy and short kinda like an Audad. Some had some good age on them and we used to always try and get the hunters to shoot them but they never would. We saw one two years in a row that had one normal horn that was at least 39" and the other was like that heavy half way then just like you said looked like you cut a chunk out and jammed the tip back on.
Havent been into that area for a good number of years, wonder if there are any like that anymore.

Good luck all!!!!
Lets hope the weather gods help out this year. Been a mix of sun, clouds and rain the past few weeks.....and sh*t loads of wind. The wife just came back from Stone Mountain Safaris lodge and it was a mix of rain and clouds. She said the rivers and creeks were high.
Hopefully we get a break and the waters can recede and the weather cooperates!!!
Be safe and shoot straight!!
Cheers

On a different note, what ever happened to Kyle (the OP, Kb90)? He dropped off the site over 3 1/2 years ago after being a main fixture for quite a while.

Kyle does the FB stuff. I thought he also changed his name to 6.5 creedmore, but I cannot find him anymore.
He is doing well and has been doing good in the animal killing department, him and his buddies killed a few nice ones this year.
