Hi Folks,

Latest from the Coalition, and a request for direct involvement:

.................................................. .............
Dear Fellow Anglers,

As you may or may not know. DFO allocated 88% of Halibut stocks to 436 Individuals and 12% to the rest of the Canadian population who are potentially Recreational Anglers. This is wrong. It is criminal that the people of Canada to have to lease quota from these individuals to fish for Halibut after the Inseason closure.

The Canadian people own the Halibut resource. We are forced to fight for our individual rights to this Halibut resource that the Conservative Government has forgotten that we collectively own. As parents we have an inherent obligation to fight for our children and grandchildren's right to fish for halibut and all other marine resources in the future.

The Federal Election provides the opportunity and sense of urgency for everyone to get involved now. The time to act is Now!

The BC Sport Fishing Coalition is requesting all Recreational Anglers to please do your part by printing off the attached Petition, collect signatures and fax to the 3 Party Leaders and the SFI (Sport Fishing Institute). Fax numbers are included at the bottom of the Petition. Please also fax to the Candidates in your riding.

Please join the Halibut Petition Campaign and stand with all Canadians to send a loud and clear message to the Political Party Leaders that "we the people own the Halibut resource!".

EITHER WE STAND UP NOW OR BE STOOD UPON FOREVER!

Rob Alcock SFI (Sport Fishing Institute)

Already, signed copies of the petition are rolling in to each candidate hoping to become the next Prime Minister, and individual candidates in many ridings. We have been presented with a unique opportunity to get the message to each of these people that we WILL NOT stand idly by while the resources we collectively and legally own are reduced to privately traded commodities amongst a select few! I sincerely hope that all of us can climb aboard, get this petition signed by as many as possible and presented to those who should be looking after our better interests! They haven't been doing much for us in that regard. Time to remind them just who they are supposed to be representing, and to step up to the plate!

Cheers,
Nog
