Quamichan Lake

There is a fishing derby on Quamichan Lake on April 30 in Duncan.
Does any body fish on this lake I have heard there is catfish in the lake, could anyone tell me how to fish for these?

Years ago as kids we caught them using gang troll and worms. Incidentals to trout fishing, we never did target them.

I've caught a few catfish over the years in both Quamichan and Somenoes. They are small and a pain in the ass. Swallow the hook every time and sandpaper like teeth fray the line above the hook. Easy to catch with a dew worm on the bottom.

This is the first I've heard of this derby. There are some nice cutty's in that lake which are easily caught trolling with small plugs,spoons and wedding band with a dew worm. The fish average 12-15 inches but there are good numbers of 2-5 lb cutty's. My favorite month to fish that lake is December.

Had lunch at Art Mann Park the other day and watched a young eagle get a duck about 100 feet from the shore line. Pretty cool.
