I cut a bear track this morning when I was out looking for sheds. Melted out, probably a day or 2 old. Lots of snow in the area, he probably was getting wet in the den with all the rain we've been having and wanted to move around a bit.

Went out the west side of harrison(20 mile bay) today(april 3) and toddled around. Was up high and right down by the lake. Checked up in the snow and down low. No sign of anything moving. Even though there's lots of green moss only found one small patch of skunk cabbage down low. But other than that all the vegan foods are still brown and dead. Need probably a week of sunshine.

Everyone up here was talkin about the bear down the way a bit, so I got my wallet and all my I. D. ran down to the corner and sure enuff, so bought a spicy mamma hamburger at the A&W, that's where I saw a big bear to-day.

I drove up from Victoria to Quesnel yesterday ,did not see any bears but did see 5 goats just north of Lytton and the usual sheep at Spences Bridge. That was the first goats that I have seen in all the years travelling the canyon

SEEN 2 OUT MACKIN CREEK FSR...one nice sized brown and one jet black...both reasonable 6' bears ,black one had the black muzzle,,,,,Im not fond of the all black faced bears..
WEST of the pond(Williams Lake) some are indeed out Horsefly -likely still some snow..they had more will take a drive once home from vancouver..

Hope to have some great friends come up for spring bear....

Getting frustrated with the weather in the Prince George area, so I pulled out the skull from last year( been buried in the freezer and forgotten ), started a big fire and boiled it up. Can't hunt'em might as well clean up the one from last year. Ready for the Peroxide treatment. Measured it, and got 18 5/8 , should end up just over 18 when its done shrinkin.

Loaded up some 200 gr noslers the other day, just need some warm days to knock the sh*t out of this snow and get those bad boys on the move.

I was out yesterday on the south island and it was gorgeous! 20 degrees atleast. no sign but had a small bear at about 30-40 yrds for a minute or two ( 120ish). then on the way home got a good video of a little cub chowin down on some grass just off the road for a few min. mum was nowhere too be seen.. also saw fresh couger scat and tracks and had a close encounter with a deer. this doe walked up to me and a buddy in the middle of a loggin road until she was about 5 feet away and i had to say something, then she casualy walked up a side road.. crazyness.

went up into bear creek yesterday, my first time in this area. absolutely disgusted by the amount of trash. as most of the trashed areas were littered with spent casing, it sickens me that to be associated as a firearms owner with such ignorant assholes. reinforces my belief that atv/dirtbike owners are a bunch of drunken slobs. took out as much as I could, filled the back of my pickup, but that didn't even cover one tiny campsite.

as for the area itself - no sign seen, but it does have some potential for bear. not even close to the spots I'm used to up north or in the keuts, best left to the locals, I don't like hunting in garbage dumps.

saw the first bear this year on QCI. looked sluggish, on a spur road, thick growth yet open timber boarding road.

the bear just watched the truck come at it for about 15 seconds, then bolted. small 2-3 year old.

last trace of a bear i seen was melted out tracks in the snow a little further up the mountains. figure that one was just meandering around out of its den. fun to see the first one of the year.

Just got back from Golden BC and took my 2 black bears and I saw 12 bears in 5 days. Saw another big brown boar on Coquihalla..so yeah they are out and about but lots of snow up top still.
