Hey sureshot....did you get to try chucking one of these at all? I did a fair bit of fishing when I was down there.

Don't have many pics loaded in photobucket but took a picture of this dude who I had sat and watched fish off some high rocks on Stradbroke Island (off the coast just south of Brisbane). He was targetting schools of redfish that were working there way along the rock areas; with the cyrstal clear water and a high vantage point it was pretty cool to watch.
Those rods are ridiculously long! 8)

Yea I brought the alvey reel back over with me, after using it I wanted one so I snagged an old one off a friend. The first time I used it I caught 2 sting ray with a beach worm we caught earlier. Speaking of beach worms those suckers are huge, have you ever seen one?

Have you been to Frazer Island? All my friends go every year and bring back a ton of Taylor and Jew.

Haven't made it to Fraser but it is definitely on the list when heading back down again; which I hope may even be this coming fall. I was all along from Sidney up to Brisbane for 14 days, then flew from Brisbane to Cairns and explored Palm Cove and Port Douglas area for another week.

If you get down again and if you're anywhere near Brisbane, go out and check out North Stradbroke Island (Straddie); very cool place. All sorts of accomodations in all price ranges....we stayed at one of the nicer spots at the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel which was awesome. Not on the "low end" of the price spectrum but great. http://www.stradbrokehotel.com.au/
