Looking for a range finder. Looking to spend $500 or so. Any suggestions?

I am actually very happy with my bushnell 600, hated the 450, boss bought me the 600 and i am very happy. ranges trees out to 700-800 all the time. was just out today getting 673 yards on a group of poplar.

I have a Leica 900 and love it. It is the older one but still ranges out 999 yards, which is further than 99.9% of will ever need. One thing I like about it over most other models is the numbers show up as red, which makes it very easy to see aganst a dark back ground.

Do a search on here as this has been asked in a few other posts.

Cheers

Just got the Zeiss PRF out of the US. This thing is awesome. super fast ranging, light weight, super steady to hold, great glass, and works on everything I try to range; even worked on a snow bank 1200yds away. I saved over $200 on it getting it from B&H.

I got a unit to do one thing right, and that's range: Leica 1200 Rangemaster. Works very well, easy to read, simple operation. I didn't want it to tell me my horoscope, or have an MP3 player, or anything else, just to range things accurately.

I bought the redfield 550. works well, simple easy to use. no fancy stuff , just tells u the range to ur target. I was quite happy with it. ranged a buck at 300 no problem in -25c temp. and allowed me find a spot 100 yrd closer for me to get a good shot.

I recently purchased a Leupold RX-1000 TBR. I haven't used it yet other than just testing it out in the yard. I ordered it from Cabela's in the US and even with the shipping and taxes it was a better bang for your buck than what I could find in the lower mainland. There are a ton of choices. It will all depend on what type of hunting you are wanting to do and what distances you plan on shooting.

I would look to get something with the angle compensator built in. That's just as big a factor as getting a true range. If you can't figure out the angle, you may miss the shot.

I saw this Game Face Sports Pro 1500 on Amazon for $180, the reviews sounded good and it's supposed to range out to 1500 yards.
I'd never heard of it before, anyone familiar with them?

Great thread to wake up to Monday morning, after going shooting yesterday, and not having a range finder, i found it difficult to work with the gf on approx ranges. and we were shooting slightly uphill aswell. What is the "BEST" all around range finder you can buy???? i will not be making 500 Yard shots (yet anyway) but i want something that is fairly easy to use. durable, waterproof, fogproof, all the necessities of a great range finder. anyones help is greatly appreciated.

Im the same as you are. Not going to even think of 500 yards yet. Just want something to do its job and not break on me.

Bushnell Legend or Scout 1000-1200 with ARC
they work on deer at half that range and full range on reflective surfaces

Quick question. What is the ARC that people keep talking about?

its your lucky day leica crf 1600 and 1000

I guess I meant an "archer" version. I wouldn't want it telling me how much to "hold over"....just the true ballistic range.

ARC tells you the range with the angle compensated. People buy rangefinders to know how much to hold over on an animal. However another big factor is the angle the shot is taken at. ARC is a feature as necessary as the rangefinder itself. You can know the distance bang on, but if you don't take into account the angle up or down hill, you could easily miss.

I picked up a Leopold RX750 TBR last year out of the states for under $300. So far I have no complaints.
