Hey hows i going just thought id introduce myself,im Russ and im relatively new to hunting even though ive been around it my whole life and have always wanted to start, the 2010 season was my first i didnt get out a whole lot but my dad and I were able to make it up to grand forks for a last minute hunt the weekend of halloween, and i hope to be getting out for a spring bear pretty quick.Anyways i was wondering what a big whitetail buck would be around the grand forks area?and where would i have a decent shot at getting my first bear?(i dont expect anyone to give up there favorite spots, just a few pointers to set me in the right direction)thancks in adavnce.

As far as whitetails go, you have to start looking at hunting them like any other animal you are going to hunt. Learn about them. What they eat, where they bed down. What they do in different weather patterns. pay as much attention as you can to what other hunters say, taking it all with a grain of salt to start. Maybe find a good book, or info online. I dont have any good advice on where you should go. i would get some good maps and call the co's office and you might get some decent. They have biologists who work for them who do things like populations counts and studies and are usually happy to talk about locations, and the co's are usually helpful too.

Its a good area apparently. But high numbers dont mean lots of big bucks.. Anyway, a big buck is pretty much a big buck anywhere in b.c. Got a pic? how did you get him?

ive got a pic but im not sure how to go about uploading it,we were hunting around a lot of farms so i decided to use a 12 gauge, got him at about 25-30 yards while he was munchin some grass, the only part that wasnt all that fun was skinning him in the dark

That's a baby, I'd a let him walk on by so he could grow up a bit

OK I would of anchored him to the ground, nice buck.

Looking at where you shot it you might want to spend more time at the range. Nice deer though.

Nothing wrong with him. I'd be proud to have put him in my freezer.

Welcome to the site.
