Yeah, my dad and I were hunting down there when we met you. We had the golden lab and you were waiting for your buddy to pick you up at the bridge.

I found it was pretty slow down there this year and there seemed to be allot more cactus around to (poor dog). We only got three pheasants, a half a dozen quail, four ducks and some pigeons. Three years ago we were getting our limits plus some geese. Looks like you guys found a few quail up on the hill side though.

Slyfox. Great pictures.

Care to pm me a general area? Not looking for specifics. I am very keen to learn to hunt for upland birds locally. Any help would be appreciated.

I am all set up, have a lab and working with a trainer and need to get on birds this fall.

Hey slyfox, if you want to hunt quail on Vancouver Island you will pretty much have to hunt in in a subdivision. Nice pictures, looks like you shot a Beretta White Wing? I have one, fantastic gun.

There's not much Quail on the island, just a few spots that hold a few cuvies.

Slyfox, remember what we said about orange hats? Did you try without it and did you find any difference?

Tron, great picture of dog and quail. All our quail come back mechanically seperated - kinda crunchy.
Don't know what it is about them, but the dogs sure like the taste.

Sounds rough. Hey, nice muley! Can I ask what kind of boots you got for your dog and where you got them? How did you size them?

slyfox
04-09-2011, 12:38 PM
Got the boots from cabel,s there around 50 buck,s they have the info for the size for your dog.How big was your stone.

Brez there called the deluxe boots but you will have to tape them around your dogs feet as they fall off in the thick stuff.

Little! smallest one I shot at. very decieving critters 'cause they are smaller than you think, make you feel like you're farther away and we shot over the first NINE and then my partner and I got the next two on the last two days. Heartbreaking for me because he tumbled past the biggest on the mountain which was only 30 meters away but at a bad angle for guarranteeing a full curl. Can't remember the scores right now.
Thanks for the boot tip - going to buy some.
