today i decided i would get my first goose no matter what as its the last day i would be able to hunt this season.

I went out towards the lake but there was too much snow everywhere and all i did was get my car stuck, plus all the logging going on i couldent get where i wanted, so i turned around and tried another spot where i have seen birds before. 90% of the way there i found the road closed due to logging so i turned around. on the way back i stopped at a goose creek and walked down to the inlet.

i noticed a couple swans coming out of the creek mouth so i watched them for a minute then 2 geese followed them out but on the wrong side of the creek.

i walked back to the road and over the bridge then back to the water, just before i got there i made my dog billy lay down and stay then i crawled through the mud and hid behind a dwarf spruce tree and some grasses. I spotted the geese coming my way and waited for what seemed like hours untill they were about 20ft away then got ready and in position,
i aimed and bang bang both birds are down first a bang flop and the second was broken but alive.

as soon as i finished billy ran out of the bush and jumped in bringing me the bang flop, then i send him at the other one and he brings me the same bird back to my feet, a no and get it later and he is in the water grabbing the still live goose and brings it to me.

took some pics and hiked back to the car, got one in the oven right now for a late dinner with the gf.

Good looking geese and congrats on your first. Now all you have to do is let us all know how you prepped, cooked, and (best of all) enjoyed your dinner.

i plucked one and roasted it, stuffed it with onions and pears, then salt and peppered it. made some mashed garlic potatoes and stir fryed up some broccoli with a chicken stock gravey.
was deliciious even my gf who has never had goose before loved it, now im boiling up the bones and leftovers for some soup.

the second one i breasted out and took the thies and legs, going to give some to a coworker tomorrow who has been asking for some game meat for a while.

if i had known how good goose was i would have hunted them years ago
