DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS with SPOT Satellite Messenger is the one I was taking a look at. I have not seen it in person as I am stuck away at work but would be looking in to one when I get home. Any one use this one or recommend one similar. I like the idea of the SPOT system so that will be something I am getting no matter what
Bump it up, I know they are fairly new, has anyone got one? I'm interested too.
Me too i wonder if the Backroads maps will work with it?

Any fee is fine by me if I am laying in a gully my leg wrapped up around my head and a foreign objects poking me where they should and at a press of a button someone could be on the way to rescue my dumb ass.
Or think of it this way that monthly fee saves replacing hardwood flooring when the wife wears a hole in it pacing and waiting for you to get home

A monthly or yearly fee, and well worth it! $99 US for a years service.:-D

I would like to buy one, but I go out too seldom for it to be worth it. Is there anyone who would work out a sort of sharing agreement. Or rent it out??

I was looking at this in the fall and it is still 2 units, it wasn't built in. it is a specific spot with an extra feature but still another unit

hmmmm as with all technology it "usually" doesnt pay to be an "early adopter".. it does look interesting however they will have all the kinks worked out w/i 6-8 months IMO..
I absolutley believe in the SPOT system..because it works...
I am waiting to see if the 2 units can be "morphed" into one AND the CANADIAN mapping system gets "tweaked"
