Hello bc this is my first post on this site but I have enjoyed all the great info and stories shared on here.I live in chilliwack bc one of the best places on earth, hunting and world class fishing in my back yard.
So I bought my first trail cam a moultrie game spy.I tried it out in the back yard by the bird feeder and got some nice pics so decided to bring it up the mountain to one of my favorite black tail areas.I was able to get fairly close to the location I was thinking of before the snow got thick and slushy and decided to hike the rest of the way in.
Along the road there were lots of deer tracks some bigger some small and no one had been through the area on quads so things looked good .I headed down a trail that I like to frequent in season and have had luck on this past year.I got about two km in and more tracks started to show then a new kind of tracks. The coincidence was I had just read jelveses hunt like a cougar thread this morning and he mentioned 5 toes on front and 4 on back so with this new info i new i was looking at cougar tracks fairly fresh looking and all a sudden I didnt feel guite so alone.I was in some seriously thick bush and my head started spinning around on a swivel.I decided this was good as any were to set up my cam I moved off the main trail and strapped it to a tree facing a little opening that had plenty of deer tracks in it and marched my ass out of there.
my question is has anyone had trouble with people stealing game cams I know chances are slim but I kind of left a trail in the snow right to my cam.any tips for cams would be appreciated .also anyone got a hound and wants to tree a cat let me know.
