I just bought my first rifle on saturday, its a browning x-bolt in a 300 win mag with redfield 3-9X40 and i cant wait to get started. i live in lanlgey and dont mind driving up to 45 mins, where would be some good places or ranges to go sight in my scope. (bore sighted already)

I'm a member at PCDHFC here's the link, they have day passes for the range, you can take a bit of a stroll on the website. Just need to bring your gun, ammo, hearing & eye protection, targets, staple gun, and you can shoot various distances on Range7 out to 200meters.

Some unsolicited advice just in case you don't know. Start close, like the first berms (25 yards) then push out out 50 and then 100. Each click will likely be 1/4 inch at 100 yards (1/4 MOA, check your scope manual it could also be 1/2 moa clicks which would mean roughly 1/2 inch @ 100). So you have to do 4x clicks at 25 and 2x clicks and 50. (Ie bullet hits 2 inches left and 1 inch low at 25 would be would be 32 clicks right and 16 clicks up @ 25 yards, 16 and 8 @ 50 yards, 8 and 4 @ 100 yards for 1/4 moa).

If you know all this already then simply ignore me.

some counter unsolicited advice, but if your bang on at 25 yards, skip 50, and go straight for 100 y. With the 300 wm, you should try aim for being an inch high at 100 yards, this will zero you at 200, and I believe 6" low at 300. Should cover all the hunting you'll do in BC! (numbers could be off a little, make sure you check before you line up on an animal, or face the wrath of the HBCPD!)

Its weird but I have often found being on @25 gives me more adjusting @ 100 if I skip 50. So I usually just make sure I'm on paper and in decent shape @ 25 then push it back to 50 for a couple of shots and then fine tune @ 100. Sometimes the whole process is just a shot or two @ each of the closer ranges if I luck out with my bore sight.
