Tannery for bison cape

Anyone know a tannery who will do a cape and who will do a good job?

Not interested in sending it to the folks in the LM.

Advance Furs in Vernon has done several Bison Capes and rugs for me over the years... they're excellent.

Theres Northgate tannery in Kamloops. I know a friend dropped off theirs at the beginning of december and if I remember it was done in a couple of weeks. It was just the back end as the front was done into a shoulder mount.

I've sent several hides to Northgate Fur Tannery in Kamloops. Seem to do a good job.

I tried sending mine to both the Vernon and Kamloops tanneries. I guess they've been making too much money lately because both turned me down, no matter what the rate. They wouldn't even look at the bison hide............

Sent two large bison bull hides to Tony at Northgate in Kamloops in early January. He said to expect 3 - 4 months for completion.

Majestic Taxi in PG did my buff last year. You might try calling him to see who he used, mine was just a tanned hide 8 by 8.5.

Regarding Halford Hides in Alberta, I wouldn't trust them for tanning. They do not have a tannery, they just facilitate delivery to a tanner. They send most of their hides out of the country, most go to China. Some happy customers, many unhappy customers. Lost hides, or recieving a different hide is common.

Wester Fur Tannery (780) 469-9345 , in Edmonton, runs a tannery. They would be worth calling.

My first choice for tanning in Alberta.

Located in Didsbury AB, just north of Calgary. IMO, he is one of the best tanners around, and usually charges much less than most. You won't be disappointed with the quality of his work.

Actually I dropped off 3 bison hides! I also dropped off another buddy's cow bison hide at the same time as our 2 bulls...
