Hey HBC;

What about a thread where we post up pics of our photo opps with our dogs?

Do you want to take a second and remember a past or current pet or hunting companion.

Post up the pics and tell the story!!

I'll start:

A golden retriever, golden retriever/lab cross that belong to my parents. A newfie/tibetian mastiff cross and a cane corso/lab cross that are mine. We hunt with all of them but the golden retriever in the pheasant picture is getting old and only goes on road hunts now. Picture was taken in Oliver when I lived there.

Then click on the insert image button in the window that your typing in.

In the window that pops up, you paste the URL to your pic.

Ice-fishing on Loon lake waaay back when I was a kid. Would take her huckleberry picking, camping and fishing all the time, super protective of me, my bro and any other kids that were with us. :) Probably woulda took her hunting with me were she still around when I started going by myself for company. She would've been absolute rubbish at retrieving birds or rabbits.. imagine they'd end up half-eaten before they returned to me :D

This is Dusty, we lost him to cancer close to 15 years ago. It's not a great picture, but the only one I have of him:

What sort of hunting do you use your wheaton for? I can't get mine to retrieve ANYTHING! I love hiking with her, but she hates the sounds of guns.

Tried hunting with her for a bit, but she got so afraid of guns as soon as they come out she won't come with me.

I take Elly where ever we go. She's 2.5 years old and ALLWAYS wants to go.........anywhere.She loves to retrieve balls and sticks...but thats it so far. Truck ,boat, quads, kayak's, canoe, logging truck if I'm on it or in it .....she's coming. She's been around noise since she was 10 weeks old. Guns don't seem to bother her, I make sure she is a little behind me when I shoot. She loves grouse hunting....she will find the birds before and after I shoot but we're still working on bringing them back. Not that she's a pointer but she'll pull me in the direction of the birds and tree them. Thats ok at least I won't loose them anymore. AND what a nose for deer. Walking on trails or in the timber she sure can tell which are the fresh tracks to follow. She's aways leashed when we are hunting and even when she's not she says close. We encountered 14 Elk last week and that was exciting for her to see. The great thing about her is she doesn't bark when we come across animals, a little growl at times but thats it.
Getting geared up for spring bear and then moose in the fall. Can't wait.

Here's my best buddy Kysa who I lost last year to a heart attack, she pulled through but her quality of life over the 3 weeks following was seriously quickly declining and I had to let her go only a few days before her 8th birthday.

This is the only time shadow stood still enough for a picture.He loves the tent (and my bed)because I can leave the flap open at night for him to squeeze through.His favorite place is in the truck when I hunt. Our 3 yr old grandson Logan and Risq 18 months going to line at a hunt test in June in Swallowfield, they passed and Logan hangs his first hunt test ribbon on his wall. The 2nd picture is of the girls, Streak and Risq taking some time off to play in the water. The 3rd picture is of Dare trying to get to the bird in the most timely manner.:biggrin:http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x473/goldngun/loganandrisq.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x473/goldngun/Dare500point005.jpghttp://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x473/goldngun/dareswallowfield.jpg

6 years later here, bean dog hasn’t missed a beat. She’s sure spoiled me as a mountain partner. She’s packed a lot of meat, saved me from the G bears twice, kept me going on a successful solo sheep hunt, and has been the best guard dog for my young girl. I think this year was her last big mountain hunt though unfortunately, she will be a sad dog next season when she has to stay and look after the house.

I figured I better get started on another mountain dog (Cassie), this was her second season sheep hunting with me, she has a great mentor and has been doing amazing.
