Not so sure about last year's sheds still quite brown on bottom side we just had alot of snow melt off. Seen probably 100 deer or so today a nice 5 with mass still holding which was quite a surprise along with a 4 that was really white. Anyways have a few more but can't post cause out of memory must have to subscribe?

I was puzzled too Mark. I've gone to the EK shed hunting in late April and saw most bull elk still packing last year's bone. I can't imagine any bulls have shed and have new growth in February???:confused::confused:

To the OP, beauty find!

Great find you should try staining them! I went for a shed hunt/hike in the EK this weekend and found a bunch of elk with a lot of cows/ a few spikes. Seen a bunch of elk shit and no bone but it was warm with a blue sky so no complaints.

Same here. When we go turkey hunting in the Kootenays in April most bulls are still packing. That's pretty neat.

Ya, I think he's from the Island, at least as far as I can tell from a post in the island forum from the same day.

I saw at least 300 elk yesterday near the Bull. Not many bulls but the ones that were there are still packin and I dont expect to start dropping till late March at least. Most all deer have dropped but I have seen the odd muley and even a decent 4x4 whitey last week.

Excellent find you got to love it when you find two of the drop sheds within a few feet apart of one and the other http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif..

Yes it may sound crazy but I'll vouch for it. Dominant (hormone rich) bulls sometimes drop the gear early with new growth starting surprizingly early. Granted it's probably not the norm, but I've been witness to 12" growth in early March on the Charlottes...oh wait, the Haida Gwaii.

This years sheds man, when we were out we seen a 4 point that had white antlers on still. Cant wait to find some more monster sheds, no better way to spend a day.
