Here's a discussion starter which of the following four GOS hunts is the easiest and which is the hardest in your opinion?

a. Region 8 Spike Fork Moose
b. Region 3 Spike Fork Moose
c. Region 8(Princeton Area) 6pt Elk
d. Region 8(kettle/Grandby) 6pt Elk

I have hunted both areas for a few years now and have never seen either an immy or a 6 pt. I think that all four are difficult hunts for an outsider. It would help to be local and have lots of time to scout and years of experience and knowledge of the area etc. I know some guys on here who get 'em every year.

Have not done them all, so can't say which is easiest, but i don't think 6pt near Princeton would be easy at all. My guess would be Region 3 spike fork?

Grouse hunting! All you need is a vehicle and a shotgun!

Funny thing is I've seen all of the above species, except the region 3 spike fork, but they were all either in a no shooting area(standing beside highway 3) or out of season.

Besides the reg 3 spike we got a couple years back i would say very tough for all of them.

I call those area's " Safeway" hunts, just drive in, bang, flop and the meats in the freezer! I find my self going to area's now where it takes a bit of Sport to harvest a Animal, not a Gimme meat hunt!

Oh I know you were jesting.....I just didn't want those that may think otherwise flooding to reg 3 for a Immy hunt, gets awful crowded

All the above are hard but if me I would go for the 6point elk in region 8 Princeton.

Easiest hunt that's easy to answer:

Its the one where you are full of shite house luck and the moose or elk step out in front of you and lie down on the road for you.

There is no easy hunt, you work for your meat.

Those are all very tough, low odds hunts! You have to be either very good, very persistent, or very lucky!

The Region 3 spike/fork is by far the easiest. Heck, I've killed 2 in last 14 or 15 years that the season has existed. That's an average of 1 every 7 years. That's great success isn't it? ;)

Let's just put it this way. Because of its close proximity to the coast, Princeton has been a gong show over the last quite a few years. With the mine reopening and the large influx of folks in town to work for the mine, it'll make the gong show look like a Sunday School picnic. I think we'll be doing our annual moose hunt out of the area this year.:(

hunting is just that hunting!-I say region 3 moose is better just because I live in the area spent countless days looking just gives you better odds then going to a spot for 1 week a year and wat less hunters than region 8
