Hi guys just looking for a bit of a timeline here. I was just wondering what month is the best for looking for sheds? I want to try soon but not sure if it is too early and maybe I'd be wasting my time. I want to focus on Mule deer sheds but finding an Elk shed would be frickin awesome!! What do you guys think?

What elevation you thinking of starting in your area, which mu do you like to start?
Look in winter range like Antlers Saddle and by west side road.
3000 feet and under look under tree canopy and along trails.
Jel .. start now b4 the blood thirsty ticks come out on March 15th .. Ticks with decease in their dna
will bite you and give you Lyme's theres no udder kindz.

Feb, march, april. Start now, and work an area. If it's full of snow and you don't find much the sheds may be burried, but if there is tons of sign that the deer winter there, then come back when the snow has melted back some and look again. Sometimes deer will hang on them for quite awhile yet and will drop late. Like Jelvis said, follow the game trails, check the bedding areas and feeding areas (hint: look around big firs).

8-9 is where I wanted to start along the lake. Seen some mulies down there in Dec. Just waiting for the the ice to go away. I am getting stir crazy tired of being inside.

i'd say start now and find where the animals are, some bucks have dropped already and some havent. i found 3 fresh mulie sheds from this year so far. by march most of them will have dropped.

If you go out don't expect to find any, do it to get into shape and find where the deer are, and how they act. 8-9 is a great area, but I have already got ticks on me this year, and there is not as many elk as you think, if you find one of those count yourself lucky, and from what I have seen most of the deer have dropped just a few carrying now

Most bucks in Kelowna already dropped, found two so far, a small three and a nice left side to a 165 mule deer. some spike and two point bucks still packing.

get the boots on and hike around

I'm on the other side of the Rockies here, but I've already found a matching set of mulie antlers that go 158" without the spread, and a lone shed that goes 81". Also a handful of smaller mulie sheds, and a few decent whitie sheds as well. I was thinking it was too early while checking my cam a couple weeks ago, but lo and behold, I started finding them.
