I've just started hunting again, and this last season i went out for a hike in the woods and realized, i was out of shape for this. It's been 8 years since i have hunted and oboy was i in for a surprise. Must of sounded like a truck hicking through the woods. Since then i have started working out. I am now up to a 10k hike with a 25lb pack. So i was justs woundering how many of you work out just for hunting.

I snowshoe in the winter when possible, stair climber if I cant get out...and then hike all summer to get ready for the season. It makes Alpine hunting so much more enjoyable when you dont feel like your going to die the whole hunt.

If you get in shape for life, you are in shape for hunting as a default! I am a portly fellow, and decided last April to lose a bunch of weight and get ready for a backpack hunt this year. So far 67 lbs, but my overall health has improved also. I climb stairs, gullies, whatever I feel like! I feel like a new person. I have a long ways to go, but I had the best hunting season ever in 2010, packing out a moose on the packboard, seeing new hunting spots in areas I have hunted in for 20 years! So yes hunting is the activity I am setting my goals for now, extending and improving my quality of life trumps the hunting! Moosin

Weights and snowshoes in the winter and I hit the mountains as soon as the most of the snow is off in the spring.

It's been studied in BC that fifteen people out of one hundred get in shape the rest eighty five per cent don't give a rodent's derriair about any thing other than the couch potatoe.

I trail run and pump iron all year to stay in shape for hunting. If I didn't hunt I'd probably be a cow.

Definitely when planning a moose or goat hunt. Otherwise, not so much. But always get the trigger finger and gun in shape.

I give my sweetie lovins' from on top three times a day beginning August 1st, and by hunting season I'm ready for anything! The best, most fun exercise doesn't require a gym membership!

Ski touring when there's snow, hiking when there isn't. In the Fall a rifle and field dressing equipment are added to the pack...
