Rented a couple of cabins for our annual mid-winter breakout boys trip at Tunkwa. Talked with Richard yesterday and Leighton was fishing good for smaller fish - Tunkwa was producing the bigger fish but was much slower so we will see. Just a good excuse to get out into the fresh air and enjoy the outdoors with some good friends. Bringing along the headcam and camera for a good report hopefully. See you in a few days!!!!

Can you say WIND!!!!!! Saturday had the worst wind I have ever seen in the winter - close to 100 km/hr!!!!! One tree broke in half by our cabin when Gary was ten feet away. We moved the trucks into the open after that.

Hid out at Leighton that day near the far west corner of the bay by the cabins. We heard probably close to 50 trees come down in the afternoon. All the cabins looked safe though that we could see.

We found a nice little spot right below the steep hill out of the wind. We got a few but nothing big. Only thing we got them on was big jumbo shrimp cut up small. Tried powerbait, meal worms and small cooked shrimp with no hookups.

Few more memory stories that stay on the road. Good time again. Didn't see much of Richard but did manage to get a quick chat in. Looking forward to next year now!!

Good to see you up Doubled, yup, she was a blowin, been a year since a blow like that. A weekend of trucks in the ditches and stuck quads. Did you see the guy at Leighton chase his 8 X 8 ice hut across the lake then up the Northeast hills into the tree line? Full of holes from the trees:mrgreen:, best to stake them down better.
Dangerous weekend to be in any type of treed area, they were coming down throughout the area. Gary must of crapped his pants, lol, that was a big tree, glad things turned out the way they did.
