I drew mountain goat in the Skeena region 6-15. Looks like I'll be planning a goat hunt. No idea if it's a good area or not. Just sort of blindly selected. Ha Ha.

I was much more focused on possibly getting my Bighorn or Island Elk.

Happy Hunting!

I finally got drawn for the first time ever after 8 years of trying!:-P

I drew a doe in 5-14 with 400 others, it's going to be like a war zone in there, blaze orange will be a must.

No Moose but I can hardly complain. Someday I'll draw a chance to shoot a swamp donkey but not this year. Now I just have to decide if I will fight the droves of hornets and blowflies hunting in August for an open bull? :???:

To all those who got skunked I feel your pain but hang in there, to those of you still waiting to check good luck and to the other 400 hunters drawn in 5-14 this year bring binoculars because if you scope me..... .......well you get the point!

Zip zilch zero, F*%k. For both moose and elk.
Me, my brother and 2 other guys got nothing. I know another guy who put in with cousins uncles, dad etc for a total of like 20 draws and got just one sheep draw!

QUESTION:
A couple buddies on my moose area put in for a group hunt (forgot to mention they were doing that rotten buggers) and two of them got drawn, does that mean they both get two tags each to share amongst the group or does that mean they each got drawn on the same tag and each get one tag ?

I'll be going with them with hopes of a mule or whitey and the boundary for open season spike forks is very close so I'll work for one of those. It is nice to win but in the end I just love the trips!

All you guys boo hooing about success on the NIL draw, look on the bright side. There are only a few species in BC which are LEH only-Grizzly, Dall Sheep and Bison (others?). All other big game species ARE available, somewhere in BC without an LEH authorization. And a lot of those areas are the best in BC! Often you have to travel to remote areas of the province, which makes those evening and weekend hunts tough, but there is still lots of hunting to be had.
Good luck to everyone this fall!

[quote=brotherjack]Speak for yourself - I got drawn for the "Nil" hunt. Don't recall entering for one of those, but as soon as I find out what a Nil is, and where to hunt it, you can bet I'll get one!

A nil is a strange bird for once you get rid of the guts and feathers there is nothing left.

I got two doe draws... mule doe in 5-14A in October with 399 others, and one of the new hunter whitetail doe draws in 8-14 also in October. Perfect for a newbie I think. :) No elk or moose.

OK, this is going to piss off a few people...

NIL for myself and 2 uncles, but my dad & cousin in our group each got a moose for our area. So, over all, we're happy.

But, after speaking with a guy I work with this morning, each person in his group has been entering 3 & 4 same species LEH entries for years. "Thats why its called a lottery...the more tickets you buy, the better your odds". Every year, except the odd one, they each get something. I guess for all the guys doing it by the book, the reason so many aren't successful is because these guys (and probably many more) are lowering the odds for the rest of us. I've only decided to go with my dad this year, I've been too busy for the past 10 years. But, he has only been lucky in the LEH, once in 6 years.

I'm thinking the only way these guys are getting caught is if they've been discovered if the powers that be discover more than one successful draw for the same person, and only then it gets flagged.

Popeye,

You can enter as many same species LEH tags as you want. The regs say that only the first one received will be the one that is actually run in the draw the rest are discarded.

Everybody thinks they can "Beat The System" Right... And a monkey just flew out of my butt.

Happy Hunting!

To everyone who got the 2114 cow elk draw.......see ya there!! And actually, if a person submits more than one entry per species, they all get thrown out. I talked to a guy who thought he was being smart and entering 10 draws for moose. problem is, as soon as they recieve more than one entry for a species, your name gets thrown out of the draw. Haha suckers!

You lucky fellows that got drawn for antlerless elk tags in 7b might want to call the Local Fish and Game (Fort st. John, Chetwynd or Dawson Creek) and get a list of farms that will let you hunt on there property because it is usually first come first serve.

Good Luck

This is where I'm confused. The guy I work with is insisting he sent in 4 deer LEH cards for the same area, same species. AND, for the second year in a row, he's got a doe in the same area :-?. Although, he knows his partner, who got a grizzly LEH last year, gets removed for this years. But, same with him...4 LEH cards were submitted for grizzly for last years draw.

Thats why I'm thinking if the lottery is done by hand, perhaps the only way these guys are getting caught is because they have been selected for same species in multiple areas?

From page 2 of the LEH synopsis: "If you enter more than one card for the same species, the additional cards will be disqualified from the draw."

So the guy just likes paying $24 instead of $6 for his one lottery ticket.

As mentioned before, I think they normally keep one and throw the other's out - too me it's good money going into the HCTF. If they apply in different management units for one species they'll simply discard any of the tags that are put in - this I know for a fact.

It isn't done by hand it's done by computer and you can be flagged. There are several hunter numbers which are flagged when it comes to licenses and leh appy's.

PM me your buddy's name and I'll find out what's going on for you.
