My stepdad found an elk skeleton a bit NE of Kimberley about 4 years ago. Head was gone so assuming it was a bull. He noticed this, cut it out and boiled it up.

It was found close to a big wooden permanent tree stand (how to tell the world where your good hunting spot is!!) I'd say shooter hit pretty high and forward but got lucky and knocked him down anyway. The arrow was gone so don't know whether xbow or not. Anybody recognize brand of broadhead? Perhaps someone knows the shooter?

Looks like a Thunderhead.
Bad shot, good results. No tracking job on that one.

X 2 on the Thunderhead. He probably unscrewed the arrow for retreval?

They probably just took the quarters ,unscrewed his/her arrow and left the carcass.

It was in a place where you can't drive so they would have taken it apart to pack it alright. Must have been very close shot as the angle of the broadhead is quite steep. Carcass was about 25 yards away so it may have been able to struggle that far, or maybe bear drug it over there.

Interesting find indeed. I agree on the Thunderhead brand. As to the angle of the shot....well, it really depends on what the animal was doing when it was shot.

I mean, did it have its head down maybe feeding? Was the head upright and on the alert? Did it flinch at the sound of the shot? There are a lot of circumstances to consider before making a guess as to the shot angle.

But maybe you've considered all that and it was a step angled shot?

Cool find anyway.

It's a Thunderhead! They are solid broadheads. Zero tracking required!

Someone sent me an email a couple of weeks ago with and elk they shot with a rifle. It had an arrow head in the eye socket. I was trying to find it, I think I deleted it. It was interesting.

Ya if someone made me guess I would have said that, but I've never actually used one so wasn't sure.

Bow Walker I really don't know any of the circumstances, just guessing by the angle of the broadhead that it was close.
