I'm looking for a place to take the .22 out legally. Not looking to go a range. I'm coming from surrey so the closer to there the better. Thanks

Go past east of Mission to Sylvester Road, and drive up towards
Salisbury Lake, and there is lots of places to shoot in that back country.

I've gone there a few times, good place but kind of far. Any places closer to surrey, maybe near twassen / ladner or north of coquitlam?

In word NOPE!! Just about anyplace closer is within a municipality and has limited shooting regulations. At best a shot gun is about the only firearm allowed within the LML.

There is a few places out behind Chilliwack but it's further and I can tell you after my trip today, the snow isn't worth trying it, just to plink.
