I havent seen thise posted up yet to my surprise, but with it being the new year I am ineresting in seeing some people's goals for this year!

Personally, I would like to take my first elk and first goat.

Start to begin the due diligence!

In order. Mountain Caribou tops this years list, archery mountain goat at close second, moose meat, grizz if I get a LEH and a couple of Black bears if I get lucky. My daughter is old enough to hunt this year, maybe she will fill one of those black bear tags.

With only about 10 days a year to hunt the mainland my goal is to hold out for a 170 class muley or better.

Hopefully try elk hunting for the first time as well.

My first goal is to "ALWAYS" get my moose. Everything after that is a bonus to me. I don't know what it would be like to go without a freezer full of moose, I think I'd feel naked.. I dream of a nice bull elk hitting the ground, but as long as I bag my moose I'm a happy hunter.

For me it would be going to the island on a salmon halibut and cod fishing trip then come back to the mainland for some freezer meat. In order elk, moose, muley, and finally a nice white tail. Then come back home from my trip and do some duck and geese hunts with my brothers. All in all hopefully a good year.

Help oldest daughter get CORE. That'll be daughter #2, one more to go!
Just starting application process for spring grizzly.
Apply for Dalls.
Plans to get my middle daughter her first Stones ram.
Caribou end of Sept.
Then come Oct, back to southern BC for second attempt at bighorns.
Elk, moose, and deer locally. And even with that, the focus will be my girls.....

01-16-2011, 01:51 PM
A moose or an elk with a deer or two for recreation. I only need to fill my freezer, not the entire neighbourhoods.

BromBones
01-16-2011, 01:52 PM
As always, head north for a spring grizzly hunt, and get that 9 fter that managed to give us the slip the last two years.

Any sheep or caribou hunting is up in the air as I'll be quitting my job in the summer to try my hand at a couple other things, so it'll be last minute if I go.

I've had that same goal every year for several years now. I didn't say I was good at acheiving my goals. ;)

My goal for this year is to get a nice 300+ bull elk, 150+ mule deer, and 2 whities over 135". For predators it would be nice to get a 6.5 foot black bear, atleast 3 coyotes, a bobcat and a lynx.

moose2
01-16-2011, 02:53 PM
My goals would be to fill my lynx tag with a good tom for a life size mount , and to hang a few wolves on the scale in the peace wolf hunt contest. I hope to achive this or at least some of it in Jan/Feb 2011.
Then its on too a 14 day mountain combo trip at the end of Sept with hopes of a wall hanger in at least one of these four species goat , caribou , moose or stone ram. I hope to hold out for a bigger ram this year I have one thats close to 38" but only 12.5" bases and one thats 36" x 14.25" bases and one in the middle of these. I would like to break the 40 inch mark, but would not pass anything bigger than what I have. Then at the end of Oct I hope to tag a cow elk for the freezer. ( I think its the best wild meat there is). For Nov I would like to see my 14 year old get her first buck , and my wife would be happy with a 150" for the wall. If I was on my own I might take a wall hanger, or sausage buck, but if there with me my gun stays at home. It will be up to them.
These are my 2011 goals , holidays are already booked. Good luck to everyone in this new hunting year and good luck on the LEH draws.

Since my first year all I got to do was butcher the father in laws little spike WT.
This coming season I would like to start off with a spring black bear.
The fall would bring a moose and an elk plus a couple deer. My Wife should be able to go this year as the little one can stay with the grandparents.
now hopefully i get all my ducks in a row and get the property I want and my shop with cold room to hang all this meat

I suppose this doesn't really involve BC, but a bighorn ram here in AB is my main priority then possibly WT in northern AB. A few potential draws to consider in Wyoming as well.

Spot and stalk spring black bear with my bow. Help my wife get a turkey with her bow. Then it's all about getting an elk. Oh and going for my LEH trophy mule deer hunt in Alberta with my Dad and Brother. Would love to take down a monster but as long as it's a good fun hunt with them it will be great.

Elk, preferrably a bull! I would like to find a nice black bear for my son to harvest, maybe a spiker or 2 point bull moose. I am going to try to find a whitetail bigger than 150" to beat my 2010 buck. Most of all, I am going to get into the mountains this year, and backpack. I don't even care if it is hunting, I am going to spend some time getting "HIGH". Moosin

With all the talk of sheep lately, I might have to take another crack at them. I know what kind of commitment this takes. Time, money, and spousal approval is always the determining factor when it comes down to it. We will see what happens.

As usual, I would like to fill the freezer with an elk or moose. As far as my ultimate harvest goal, a monster muley has always been my goal. Preferably a gnarly non typical over 200.:-D

100lb halibut ,would be a release though just want a pic.

how do you catch and release a halibut / what kind of pic are you trying to get? you pretty much have to kill a halibut that big before you bring him in the boat or it will destroy your boat.

I've been told goals are stupid. So mine is to go out and spend time in the out doors.

I'd like to shoot my biggest mulie to date, then maybe get my first whitetail. An leh moose would be nice and also wouldn't mind getting one of the kamloops sheep draws, highly unlikely but someones got to get it

500 lbs of gopher meat to start. Then anything with an pointy stick. Was a failure last year, hope not to disappoint this year.

My goal is getting my Fiancee out and stalking with me. It hasnt taken nearly as long as I thought it might to get her comfortable shooting big guns, she just finished her Core, and who knows buy her some accesories and an outfit, I hope shes elbow deep in blood a couple times before the year is done. She'll do anything I do. and she likes knives more than I do. Shes a keeper..

I'm still holding out hope that school and finances will allow for a hike in sheep or goat "hunt" (first time, so honestly it'll probably be a walk with my rifle and not a sheep to be found), but it's looking less and less likely for another year, soooo...

Finally going to suck it up and chase spring bears again, only this time I'm taking the bow. Immature moose and Mulies are always up, and I won't be turning down any WT. Basically, I'm just into filling the freezer.

This is easy, I get to set the bar real low as this'll be my first hunting season ever. Sooo...anything I can legally hunt. Realistically, I'd like to get a nice muley, some grouse, and I'd like to try to get a moose if I can get a draw as they have to be the best tasting meat I've ever had(to date, still many that I've yet to try, hopefully I can put a few more on the menu in the coming years).
