Not certain how much we got here in the puddle, but I let the dog out and his belly was dragging in the fresh powder.

Hope we get tons to get the lake levels back up to close to normal.

Not much in Abbotsford -10cm, but since I work next town, I called in sick. If asked, I got the EVLD, pronounced eviled (Extremely, Violent Liquid, Diarrhea). That usually stops the questioning.

12 inches yesterday, another 8 inches greeted us this morning @ 8:00 and I just cleared that up, and there are 4 more inches since 11:00am, still dumping. Poor elk and deer, they are digging!!! Fields and open slopes all look like waves in the ocean as they are pawing. They don't even go away from feeding areas to rest, just eat, lay down where ever and continue to dig and browse...

Snowed about 8 to 10 inches up here in the last two days, now have about 30" of snow on the level where it hasn't been disturbed, and four foot snowbanks along my driveway, and it's still coming down. I suspect what we have is modest compared to the Elk Valley and the Kimberley area. With the warm weather and rain projected for this weekend all that snow will end up being capped of with a hard crust.

Unless we are lucky enough to have a big early melt this spring I also fear there might be a heavy toll on our wildlife here in the EK. If spring comes late and green-up is delayed at it could be very bad.

Well the skiing was real good today in Kimberley but as I was tearing it up all morning all I was thinking on the lift was how this weekends forecasted rain freeze will affect the deer and Elk. I am very afraid. Of course the wildlife stockpiling crowd will blame this years liberlized seasons for the down turn.
Just checked the temp plus two and light rain if it stops without turning to snow and we get the freeze we are in trouble.

I am new to this area but my thoughts are that after the rain and then the snow freezing with the amount of snow we have on the ground will have an effect on there eating.

It will be hard for the elk to get to the bottom to there food ,elk will browse if they are in need for food just how much browsing they will do ???.

Now that i live here and I don't have to work anymore I will head out after some rain and freezing and see how the elk are feeding will be interesting to see how they feed in the conditions ???.

Well, if it's going to rain, let it rain a lot and hope the snowpack gets knocked down pretty good before the next hard freeze.

We had a similar situation a few years ago...shitload of snow then a warm spell....but luckily it melted a pile of snow before the warm weather moved on so it wasn't an issue.

Keep our fingers crossed...........
