Gday how you guys goin, was put onto this site from a fellow on CGNs forum.
Ill start with a bit about myself,
Im 22 years old from Australia, live in the country on Aus's east coast not far from the Snow fields.
Im right into the outdoors, Fishing, Camping, hunting(of course) and 4wheel driving/dirtbikes.

I've been hunting deer for a few years now but have always grown up shootin rifles an shotguns an absolutley love it.

I primarily shoot a Ruger 35Whelen but have a handful in the safe, rem700 .270, 222, 375 winchester, shotguns ah you get the idea.

Been put onto this site because i have visited Vernon quite some years back an I'm really thinkin about heading back over there an spending a year in BC, living really... work an all that until hunting season an get amongst it.
i have some great friends an family over there so im still in early stages on planning this out but i hope to do the 12 months over there.

Well enough from me at the moment, il share a handful of photos from last few years hunting!

look forward to joining some of the discussion around the camp fire an learning more about BC hunting.

Cheers
Aussie.

Not sure if you are aware but to hunt in BC as a Non-Resident you have to go through a guide. Which cost a lot of money. Otherwise you have to be a Resident and live here for 1 year before you can hunt. Just a heads up.

Oh and great pics by the way!

Welcome to the site. Looks like you've had your share of success with hunting. Great pics.

Hopefully, if you time your 12 months right, you can hunt with a family member here in BC. Good luck.

Great pic's Aussie:-D!! Welcome to HBC. That's a nice Ruger Hawkeye. I have one in .30-06 and the Alaskan in .375.

I'm envious of the trucks (Toyota landcruisers and Helix) and bikes (Honda trail 110's or postie's) you folks get to buy down under that we North American's can't get our hands on easily.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers

If you know someone here that has there hunting license they can get a permit for small game " grouse, rabbits". But for big game You need a guide. I think? either way you will love it here, beautifull country

Good luck and nice pics

Hey Aussie, you can be sponsored to hunt by immediate family if they have there hunting licences but it will only be for whatever animals you apply for and in specific management units you request. I have sponsored a brother in-law from Oz with no problems. Its a bit of a process with applications so start well in advance of hunting trip dates. Cheers.

Don't worry about it...with your aussie accent the young ladies will be enamored with you and there will be no time to hunt. You might want to practice your 'beating off with a stick' though!!!

Not to sure that "beating off with a stick" would be smart, health care can get pricey for a traveler:wink:

Welcome to HBC Aussie Whelan.
Those are great photos. Looks like you have done really well for a young fellow. I hope you can get your ducks in a row and get a chance to hunt here for the bigger stuff.

Cheers for the replies. im so bummed about the regs LOL.
its not immediate family, i know a family over there where i stayed last time , but nothing to do with me.
Thats a tough one, an has sent my mind wandering again, i loved Vernon an the time i spent there, I wish it were more simple EG buy the permits licenses an maybe a few other things an get into it! but looks like im a bit out of luck, i dont think i could not hunt for 12 months whil being in Canada, an theres no way im paying the 10g for a Guided hunt :)

Is all of Canada like this ?

BTW when i was there, yup, the chicks loved the Aussie accent haha!
Maybe if i do decide to do 6 months or so il keep on these forums an might be able to take a walk with some of you guys while YOU guys get onto that monster elk :)

Cheers
