I used a spear pole for lingcod ,rockcod ect when I diving . I liked the fact it was so simple and easy to fix ,if the rubber broke just replaced it .

Started with a small H. sling. Then bought a bunch of different spear guns thinking that I was upgrading.:-? From Rubber-banded to pneumatic. Went back to a large Hawaiian sling and found it the nicest and easiest to use by far. No strings to get tangled or bands to recock etc. And lets face it. A lot of times able to just put the pointy end right behind the gills with the extra reach.
Instead of the trident I found a Point with two barbs (wings) that open after contact to stop the fish from pulling off worked really well. Get a 4 or 5' Ling on and it can be quite a ride.

I used a hawaiian sling, It worked the best, I did my diving off the back side Cabbage Island, there are a few good places to pull up a inflatable on shore, Watch the drift thought the rock wall is 200Ft deep, Happy Hunting

stay away from JBL - Biller - Sea Hornet. junk!

Hawaiian slings are great in clear water, but you'll end up loosing shafts and fish in out dark waters.

Pole spears are more then adequate, but if you're looking for a gun I'd look at a 75cm Euro type. Rob Allen, Omer, Mako.... a 90cm is nice in the bigger lakes for carp, but 75 wins hunting around rocks and in the kelp.

if you get down to the Okanagan this summer, I have a collection of spear chuckers you're more then welcome to play with.

if you can load the 120, I'll buy the beer :)
