Starting to think this gun is cursed

In Nov 2009 I had problems with the bolt carrier separating in my XCS Remington 11-87 super mag.

I had a new part sent to me by Reliable Guns and have been using the shotgun ever since. I've gone through about 2 flats of shells since then and just today my shotgun jammed up and after taking it apart to clean it this is what I've discovered.

Thats been cracked for awhile, too bad you couldn't get parts that were made 50 years ago, when they used real steel.

Looks like something went wrong in the heat treatment process, I don't think that metal should be that brittle, Remington should give you a whole new gun...!

So it wasn't the O ring?

The O-ring was broken but this could have been caused by the extra pressure from the bolt not opening right because of the piece that broke off.

I'm glad I didn sell my other auto loader when I bought this one.

I was jus checking to see how long the warantee is good for and it only covers the gun for two years. I may be a couple months over that now but with the previous issues hopefully they'll cover it.

It's been a work horse for me and I really like the gun but I've never in my 30 years of hunting ever had so many issues with one gun. Well have to see what comes of it to decide if it's time to switch to another brand of shotgun for 2011.

I received a replacement breech bolt from Reliable Gun's on Friday by Fed/Ex and was back in action on the weekend. It was nice to have old Bessy back in action. Hopefully this is the last of the issues with this gun and that the breech was cracked when the other issue happened a year ago.
