All quiet on the hunt! No news? Talked to Vern this morning. Warm with about a foot of snow at the ranch. Deeper snow out back. A band of buffalo went across the trail about 5 miles from ranch. 10 more sleeps.

Should be a slam dunk. Its a lot of fun. Just find some fresh tracks and follow them in the right direction on foot quietly. That is the one secret to buffalo hunting. You may follow for 2 hours, but you will catch them. Semi frozen Terds can be used to tell how close you are.

If I remember correctly you had the LEh as well did you not? IF you did have you gone yet and what are the results.

Was up there on the 16th, Buffalo are closer to the ranch now. Ended up shooting a 2 year old bull. Great time & hunt with brother & good friends. Other hunters got buffalo also, some taking risks by hunting singually & taking unnessasary chances with the cold weather. Vern had to go on a rescue trip late at night. Had all us others worried. Should be good for you, just be patient.

Patman,

Expand on the "rescue trip" would ya? You mean Vern got out and earned his cash?

Were they leaving before the 25th or after?

Just curious, what is the charge for using the road through the ranch this year? Was there last year and we went around the ranch with success but the trail was certainly rough. Going through would be nice if the cost was reasonable. Still waiting for my own draw, have accompanied twice.

I thought they were leaving on the 15th.
Fraink we were there on the 4th of Dec and the trail around the ranch was lacking snow so we payed the ranch access fee which was $175.00 for the Tag holder and $75.00 bucks to accompany for the length of your hunt.We left the truck and trailer each day in a corral so the horses couldn't get at it.

+YES Vern & friend left cabins at 10 at nite returned at 1am -32 degrees 1 sled out of gas & 1 hunter had fallen through ice and was just a little wet & cold. Kudos to Vern not many care takers I know would go out in the middle of nite to rescue the unprepared.
Thanks Vern

Snareman 1234 went up with me for my draw on the 19th, and I got my Bison on the second day at 20 mile of the halfway river trail about a km up the mountain. It was a real good trip!

Took my xmas present out this afternoon and sighted it in Tika T3 SS Ultra Lite 338! 1/2 inch to the left 8 inches high at a hundred yards. 6 shells later we were in business! I have 2 300 win mags, not much more of a noticeable kick! I love the led sled for dialing rifles in. It's gonna be fun fun fun ;)
