Monthly? Bi-monthly? Quarterly? Just once a year?

Once a month for executive, once a month for general meetings. So 2x a month depending on if your on the board.

How is the attendance at the members meetings? Does it turn into just another executive meeting or do you get a good turnout from general membership.

Once a month, 8 months of the year, with the same 5 or 6 people attending - who think they own it...... Hence the reason for the lack of participation and turnout...

First Thursday of the month but we take July and August off. Executive meetings as required, not scheduled. Attendance is usually between 8 - 15, but much larger when membership renewals are under way (December/January) and of course for our AGM where we can see upwards of thirty.

The reason we are asking is because it seems we accomplish more at Exec meetings or via email; and attendance at regular monthly meetings seems pretty stagnant with mostly the same 20-30 people showing up. We are launching a new website to keep members informed, too.

We are considering paring back to 4 regular meetings per year with exec meetings as required and updates via email list and website.

(all members are invited to attend exec meetings if they wish)

We do get presentations form various groups/government/people from time to time which we could call more meetings for if we wish.

Fewer meetings could allow people to allocate their "club" time to more productive uses, such as at the range or on some trail building or enhancement project, and keeping in touch these days is easy.

The clubs are run by whoever shows up. Our club has + 300 members, the same 5 or 6 people show up and do all the work and of course form the executive cause no one else will. We are down to one meeting a year, our general annual, we had 8 people show up. All we get are complaints of how it is run by the 'guys who think they own it'. Truth is those guys are sick and tired of it and are begging others to take over. Nobody goes to the meetings because they figure they will get roped into doing something besides complaining. It always amazes me that the general membership can make time to show up to every event those 5 or 6 guys put on but are too busy to go to a meeting, a work party or lift a finger to do anything to help out. They will phone you from the range and complain that a target board is all shot up but are too lazy to go in the shed, grab a hammer and a sheet of plywood and drive down range to tack it up, they'd rather bitch. I refused to be re-elected, so they all get mad cause you quit. Phuck em, tired of picking up after them.
