Was up at 4:30 am and gone.Grabbed coffee and was on my way to hunt my last day out of the extended whitetail archery season.Hiked up Heartbreak ridge in the dark and set up my blind.Sat in the cold till lunchtime.Probably halfway in to the sit I see deer and hope its the big buck I was hunting. As the deer come into the open I see its three does .Range 47 yds.A little too far for me shooting my bow out of the blind at whitetails.Sure is different drawing the bow sitting in a blind. The does keep walking and eventually walk by my buddy at 60 yds.He also has seen the big buck but no luck for us today. We head down the mountain and i get out the stove and make coffee and soup. After a good lunch he heads back to town and i head up another hill.Probably an hour and a half before dark I see whitetails right above me.they start to run over out of my view.A quick mouth bleat as I draw my bow stops the last doe and I release the arrow.I see the arrow penetrate deep into the doe and she runs out of my view.I head back to the truck and get all the necessities for possibly a long tracking job.I come to the spot where the doe was arrowed and begin tracking(due to the amount of fresh tracks)but my doe is laying there less than 30 yds away.I guess that all the practice payed off as the quick range the smooth draw and picking and settling on the "spot" was fluid and perfect.I know its only a doe but I've had a drought on archery kills for quite a few years. Also my first kill for my new Strother SR-71 at 64 lbs and 27.5 in draw.Slick trick. Some good meat to end a fine season. http://i540.photobucket.com/albums/gg356/huntpic2008/P1020379.jpg?t=1292814101
