What do you 300 shooters use as a good northern load? Brother going to reload some shells for me. Any ideas?

180 grain is pretty standard. Works well on all animals. I wouldnt load smaller loads for deer either. If you are planning on hunting close range stuff especially bears you can load some 200 or 220 grain bullets.

Barnes 168gr TTSX, IMR 4831, works well in my 300 win mag. I have reloaded Hornady 190grBTSP with H4831, and H1000. Reloaded the 150gr TSX with H4350, and Reloader 19 with good results. I have some Speer 150gr SP's loaded with Reloader 17, but have not tried them yet. The 168gr TTSX's are cruising at about 3100fps chronied, and boy do they kill critters!! I have also used 200gr Nosler partitions loaded with Winchester 760 powder and they were pretty deadly on bears, but the recoil was pretty unforgiving, not sure why?? I am going to try some Nosler accubonds this winter just for $hits and giggles, maybe used some H4831, and H1000 cause I have lots of those 2 powders.

Just follow the recipes in the reloading manuals, start low and work up the load looking for pressure signs. Each persons rifle is different, and the max load in the manual may be too much for your rifle. Have fun, man reloading is a blast, literally!!! Moosin

I like to shoot lots, so I just load Hornady 180 grn BT's, I use 76 grns of IMR 4831. The reason I use the Hornady Bullet is there a great Bullet for the price, I like to shot as much as possible during the year, and I can't see shooting rocks with Bullets 3 times the price! Yes, the BarnesX and all the rest are a much better round, but I've yet to have the Hornady or Sierra for that matter fail in killing a animal.

I shoot a Browning A bolt and load IMR 4831 - 69 grains with Nosler Partition in 200 Spitzer, I have used 180 Partition Spitzer but prefer the 200's from My gun. Shot Goat, Sheep, Moose, Elk, Griz and Black Bear, Deer with it.

Kind of an old fashioned load but it works for me.
