New to waterfowl hunting

I would like to give waterfowl hunting a try and am very excited about it. I also have a new dog (German wirehaired pointer)that is bird crazy and is a fantastic pointer. I have hunted grouse and guail with him and have used pigeons for training. He is 15months old now and I would like to introduce him to waterfowl hunting. I understand he is not the ideal dog for this but with training and starting somewhere I know it could work. He swims and fetches birds out of water if he sees them fall.

Im hoping someone could take me out a few times to give me a base to start from and maybe if Im lucky Grady (the dog) will get a chance to see a bird fall and retrieve it. I don't even know what is needed to start him out in the marsh.I am in Victoria. I will be moving to the Interior hopefully this spring but I would like to try and get Grady started with waterfowl this season.
