what is that place called that auctions off birds and other small game? pheasants, chuckers, and other birds. it has been talked about on the site before. any help? the place is located in greater vancouver

Yeah, that's the only one that I know of. They usually have everything from rabbits to cattle. Guinea Pigs included. :wink:

has anyone on here bought quail or other game birds at the auction? how much did you pay??? and how does it work with picking up the live birds?

Nope. Only rabbits.

You pay once you win the bid and wanna leave. Be sure to have something to transport them in with you. IIRC, the procedures are outlined on their website.

Pigeons $2-3 each
Pheasants avg $11 each
Quail $3-5 if I remember right, similar for chukar
Ducks all over the place based on what they are

get there early and be prepared to bid aggressively against other people. You also have to make sure that you get the auctioneer's attention as he will be watching other people. Trust me been there and done that.

a] Yes, this is a livestock auction.
b] Depends on the lot/seller. Most times one can buy singles or multiples.

general rule the smaller the bird, the more in a lot. You need to buy the lot.

Always pigeons, ducks, not always pheasants, quail or chuckar. People bring stuff in that day, so they don't even know what they will sell until it arrives.

You need to get there before 9am to view the birds, after the auction starts you aren't allowed in where the birds are

From my experience, and being sarcastic here, read up....

I can guarentee Chickens
I can guarentee Ducks
I can guarentee Rabbits
and I will go so far as to guarentee pigeons

But everything else, you roll the dice you takes your chances....
