Here's some pics of several years of growth on a bull I've been watching. Neat to watch them grow up before your eyes.

Very cool.
How many sheds of his have you found ?
I'd be making an elk shed chandelier if you had enough found before they had time to fade or get chewn on (something I am working on out of 'sets')

That has to be one of the best posts I have seen in a long time. This is what I would love to do in the hunting off season. I really hope to find the time to do some shed hunting and actually sit and video tape and photograph the wild. To me this is truly how to hunt successfully for large bulls and large bucks.

Thanks for posting this.

Glad you enjoy them. It is truly a neat experience to watch, photograph and video the same animal for several years. Really rewarding to pick up the sheds as well. I've been able to follow several animals over the years for multiple years. A few times I have actually been able to harvest them during the hunting season too. This bull is in a unit without an open elk season, so I will just take satisfaction of snapping his pics and trying to find his sheds before the rodents beat me to them.

It would be really neat to make a chandelier or a piece of furniture with sheds from the SAME animal over a number of years.

Great pic's Dana, very cool to be able to watch the changes in them for a few years.
This year was my first time having a heard in front of me. They were about 60yrds out and I had a great chat with one of the bulls. Beautiful animals....

Feb 2010,can't get over how black the main frame is compared to our Island Rosey's being usually more red in colour.

LMAO! Are there lots of cutblks in Jasper? Forget about them damn shed poachers, better be chasing those midnight timber pigs. :)

BTW This is a Region 3 bull. No elk seasons in Region 3.

SOmeday Dana....Someday......

Hopefully if it does open, you will be on him first thing opening morning, collecting your trophy, ending the "look but don't touch" relationship you two have been having....

Nice pics...

I doubt we will see elk opening any day soon in Region 3. The herds are very small and very scattered. They have been moving in to the Region more and I've seen elk in areas they have never ever been before. But 1 or 2 elk scattered 100's of kms apart won't equate a season for at least 15 to 20 years.

Those are some awesome bulls!
My personal elk shed count for 2010 is at 36 now!
51 if I include a couple others that have been with me!
Only a couple sheds that compare to that big bull in your pics!
