Woke up at 5 and couldn't drag the wife out of bed, so I loaded up the hound and headed out to Cherryville.

Got out of the truck at 7:20am and walked just down the road to an opening in the trees where I saw 2 does. I was watching them, and I heard a squirrel pipe up, and then a big crash in the bushes. Out comes this guy, running at full tilt right towards me. I should have shot him on the run but I waited till he stopped behind some brush. I ducked down took my shot, and blew his guts out. Crap.

He went down the hill, and kept on going. Down. Down. Down. All I could think was I have to drag him out up. UP. UP. UP.

I decided to give him some space, walked back to the truck, drove it around to the bottom where it would be easier to pull him out, and then went back in for him. Walked back in, found him 15 yards from where I had turned around, and thats when the work started.

I forgot the rope in the truck, so I used my belt to drag that SOB out.

Not the most thoughout plan of attack, but I got him back, and was on my way home at 11:30. Wife is pretty upset she didn't come, but thought she should work instead. Maybe next year for her.
