Just got back last night from my second trip to Alberta. We landed on the 24th to -25c weather and couldn't be happier my buddy who was taken us out had seen so many deer lately we should be in for a good hunt!
Morning of the 25th we wake up to -4c weather and head out to a box blind where numerous bucks have been spotted over the past 3 days and all were on does. We got to our blind about 6:30 am about 1.5 hours befor legal light. After sitting for 6 hours we saw 0 deer ! So it's now noon and +3c we are getting concerned this warm weather has all the deer bedded down and things are gonna get tough. The night o the 25th we head back into the box blind and see 2 does playing in the south end of the field.
That night we hear of 3 nice bucks taken mid day all were out in the open and on the move. We decided to head a little further north and go touring and glass some cut lines. About 3pm the afternoon it started snowing and blowing we had our fingers crossed about 30 min later we spot this guy standing on the side of a cut line and put the stock on him. He wandered down the cut line and quickly into the trees before I could get a shot on him. We are bummed he is gone ! Just then my buddy notices him about 10 yards back into the bush staring right at us. I shoulder my gun took an standing shot at 60yard and he fell where he stood.
I couldn't be happier.
