Been meaning to post this pic for a while. Some wolves a buddy of mine and I shot. They were chasing three elk across a series of slides. We ran 300yards and set up before they entered the last slide. We got two right away at about 340 yds and then as we hiked across the valley to get them the last of the three howled from the rocks above us. We got him too at about 325. The elk slept better that night I'm sure. Wolves always stink but wet wolves....wow. I couldn't skin fast enough.

That's a beautiful sight. I couldn't think of anything more satisfying than shooting wolves off the tail of an elk. Good going!

Good work guys....it is nice to see pictures like this....were you able to do it with three shots??

We got these while bear hunting in the spring open season. (No elevation restrictions during calving season)

Only fired three shots believe it or not.

My .300 was put together by Bill Leeper. It has a 24" barrel, Bansner Ultralight stock, Timney trigger, Game Reaper one piece alumnium mounts and a leupold scope. The most accurate hunting rifle I have ever owned. Bullet was a 200 grain partition with lots of retumbo. Not the gun I ever expected to be shooting at wolves with. A little more than I needed but the holes were small. The other gun was an ultra with 180 tsx. Almost no pelt damage with either. Not quite enough animal to get those big bullets opened up. The pelts were not primo but we got them tanned anyway. A wolf is a wolf and I havn't shot enough to start throwing them away. One of my best hunting days for sure.

Good on ya. My son and I dumped 3 on a cariboo hunt. I know the rush you felt. My 14 year old son told me that was the biggest rush of his life. It took us a few more shots though. He took 2 with his 243 using 85gr tsx. I shot one with my 325 and the 200gr accubond. Very little damage as well. It took us 2.5 hrs to skin them down to paws and heads. Another couple hrs to finish them in camp. Great learning for my apprentice. Have fun.

I shot two wolves a few months ago off the back porch. God almighty do they stink. I thought I was goona puke when they were hanging up in the shed. They smelt really musky. like a Weasel or something. We have not had wolves in our area of the Kootenays for 40 years. they moved in about 10 years ago. I know understand why they are disliked. Most of my favorite hunting spots are like walking through a graveyard. There is no doubt they are the top of the food chain.

I missed one last December. HUGE. LOL Wasn't quite as quick on the draw as I should've been, I guess. :P

This only gets me more determined to fill my quota on them this year. The amount of wolf track in the areas I frequent is getting ridiculous. It's like a canine highway..
