Ruger#1's Nov 27 Birthday buck

Well this morning Takla and I went up the mountain. Different story yesterday , lot of snow and we had to walk it. Today it was a drive to the top. We checked out a clear cut and didn't see anything, So we split up and went to our favorite spots on the mountain. Before I hit my cut I made sure the wind was in my face, And glassed it a bit. Walk to the end and back to my blind. Seen a flicker of white and thought it was a bird. I put the doe pee scent around the blind and sat down. Saw another white flicker about 125 Yards away up hill. Sat and watched. Then I seen a deers head with one branch of antler. So I go for a head shot. Nothing, He just keeps walking away from me. Boom another shot quartering away from me. Still walking like nothing happened. Close to 200 Yards up hill he stands broadside. Boom, Hit him in the spine, He hit the ground. I waited for 10 Min's, To see if he would get up. Went up to get him and drag him to the road. I look and his antler fell off. I hit him beside his antler. The second shot hat hit him in the liver. and the third hit the spine . He was a dead deer walking. Had to drag him with a broken antler and did that antler ever stink. He must of broke it off fighting. The antler that fell of looks like a shed. We got home and skinned it out . When we were skinning one of the front legs I hit a pocket that was full of rotten smelling puss. Cut that piece off and the bears can eat it. Lots of bear tracks up there also. Looks like a big bear. So I picked up a bear tag for tomorrows hunt.

This is one of the 160 Grn Nosler Partions that I retrieved out of the deer. Shooting out of a 7 mil mag chronyed at average 3080fps.

Did that buck come the Chilliwack Valley?No it didn't. It was also shot at the 1000ft elevation. North side of the Fraser river.

Cool, there is a big one antlered buck around my place. I haven't seen him for awhile. 4 on one side and a nub on the other.I thought you got him!
If the buck around here had both sides i guess him in the 120-130 range!

If the buck around here had both sides i guess him in the 120-130 range! Try to rattle or doe bleat him out in the open. This guy was crossing the clear cut. I didn't get a chance to rattle.

Went out today, Snow level is down, Lots of deer tracks and lots of fog.Could only see about 25 yards. Nothing touched the gut pile. I thought the ravens would of been on it already. Or the beer. Deer walk with in 3 yards of it. Still was a good day.
